Engage in your musical journey through piano lessons and/or theory lessons at Musical Dreams Piano Studio, Canada!

Hello!

  And welcome!

To the website of Musical Dreams Piano Studio, the next step in your musical journey!  Aged 5 or 65, beginner or advanced, newcomer or returnee, there’s no limitation on who can engage in pursuing a skill, a love, an experiment, and I would love to help you out. Here at Musical Dreams Piano Studio I offer individual piano lessons and group theory lessons to support you in your musical exploration.  I offer both of these for both those interested solely in personal development as well as for those interested in additionally pursuing Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music examinations.  So.... sign yourself up!  Check out my “Piano Lessons” page and “Theory Lessons” page for more information on the lessons I offer and then let's get you moving along in your musical journey!

About Me

I have been teaching both piano and theory for almost 40 years. I have my Performer’s A.R.C.T. in Piano with the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music (1990) as well as a B.Sc. in Engineering (1995), a B.A. in Psychology (2012), and an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies (2020). I have extensive professional experience researching, developing, and assessing educational and developmental programming for children, youth, and young adults, as well as extensive volunteer experience administering and realizing activities and programs for children and youth. I also have extensive experience developing, assessing, and administering programming for individuals outside of the normative. Please see my “About Me” page for more information about me.

Location

I am currently physically located in Kanata, Ontario, but as all my lessons are provided online I offer lessons to anyone located anywhere within Canada with an internet connection. I am a member of the Canadian Federation of Music Teacher’s Association with branch memberships in the Alberta Registered Music Teacher’s Association, Calgary Branch, and the Ontario Registered Music Teacher’s Association, Ottawa Branch.

Students and classes

I teach from ages 5 and up, to those wanting to pursue Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music Certification, those who are not wanting to do so, and those who are unsure or who might be changing their minds 😊. I offer both individual piano lessons and group theory classes. My more beginner level theory classes are divided by age, so don’t worry if you are a beginner teen or adult, you will not be in a class with 5-year-olds! Also note that I do offer "let's get to know the lessons" lessons in both theory and piano for parents of music students so the parents can have a better understanding of their child's experience, the larger context of the instructional material, and how to maximize the positive impact of the formal music learning experience on their child''s development.  These lessons are  offered in sets of shorter duration (typically 6-8 weeks) and are open to parents of students not from my studio as well as the parents of students from my studio.  You can see more details on the types of lessons I offer on my Piano Lessons and Theory Lessons pages!

Although I love teaching pretty much everyone I have particular fondness in my piano lessons for:

Younger students (ages 5-8)

Older adults

Teens looking to get the basics to support their own explorations (generally offered in 8-week sessions)

Teens who have decided on their own that they want to learn piano

Students outside of the normative

Students under age 10 with parents committed to realizing the benefits of a formal music education for their child

Students over age 10 who are themselves committed to learning the instrument or the theory

What's next?
